| Refugees Sewing Uniforms for our Schools | | Fighting Poverty
The ultimate goal of all Effective Aid International embarks on is the relief of poverty in our target communities. As we continue to work in these communities, little by little, one step at a time, we are seeing visible results of our labour of love – changed lives!
Here are a few statistics gathered over the years we have been operating:
-
More than 7000 academic years of education have been delivered to children in the refugee camps on the Thai-Burma border.
-
More than 500 students have graduated from high school.
-
Hygienic toilets and wash facilities have been constructed and are used regularly by more than 1500 families.
-
Since our education program commenced we have trained and employed more than 300 School Teachers. Many of these have gone to other countries as refugee migrants and succeeded in that country.
-
Many of our graduates have gained employment or gone on to further study.
-
Hundreds of new mothers have been given nutritious meals following giving birth and their babies given mosquito nets and blankets.
-
Seasonal vegetable gardens at our schools have taught new skills, as well as provided fresh produce to the refugee communities.
-
Storage tanks have been built to store rainwater for use by our school students and the surrounding community.
While not measurable in the short term, through our work we are seeing hope restored to young people who had no hope. They are excited about their vision for a better future.
