Effective Aid International

Since its inception, Effective Aid International, an Australian Charity, has been focusing on addressing poverty and building better lives for vulnerable and displaced children and families in North Thailand, particularly in the region that borders Burma. We are addressing the immediate crises as they occur, as well as providing development and education that will bring these poor people a better future.

 

Our core values are Christian, but we freely give love, assistance, development and aid to those in need without discriminating in any way in areas of religion, belief, gender, race, ethnicity or age.

 

The organisation firmly believes that youngsters should never be deprived of the basic necessities – food, shelter, clothing, health care and education. Effective Aid International’s aim is to alleviate, if not totally eliminate the sufferings of these children brought about as a result of poverty and war.

Relying on the generosity of donors and sponsors, Effective Aid International trains, equips and mobilizes people from within the target communities to address the needs of their own people. We believe in changing the future of these communities by empowering them to reach towards a better future.

 

Foreign aid workers are not used to achieve our goals, but our focus is on the selection and training of key people from the target groups who are then employed in many capacities, including teachers and social workers.

 

To mobilize people and effectively reach its goal, Effective Aid International teams up with government and private organisations with similar vision. Many companies, businesses, international ministries, churches, schools and individuals partner with us, contributing in their own special way to expand and multiply the impact of the organisation’s projects.

As we move into the second quarter of 2012, by-elections in Burma have seen long time democracy advocate and Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi and her party win 43 seats in government. At the same time, continued cease fire and peace negotiations between the government and various ethnic groups have brought a level of freedom and hope not seen for more than 60 years.

Effective Aid International is already planning its next steps as the door opens to bring education into communities that have not lived in freedom for decades. Eastern Burma has not seen development since 1948 - it is half a century behind most of the world, with community development desperately needed.
